Lesson 101 of my Integrative Nutrition and Holistic Health Coaching certification - one person’s food is another’s poison. As my journey as a health coach has evolved, I’ve learned that this ethos is one that applies to so many areas of our health, not just what we eat. 

In a society that’s become so focused on food and movement alone to elevate your health, wouldn’t it be revolutionary to understand what other areas you’re neglecting that are hindering your health?!


The type, duration, and intensity of exercise we need is personal. The types of careers we will not only succeed in but will thrive in is deeply personal, and not just based on our interests. The types and amount of social interactions we require and the need for self-expression also contribute to our health and the basic requirement here is going to be different for all of us. How we use our mind and the amount of mental stimulation required again, is different for us all. 

We can no longer allow the way we approach health to be a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all model, the approach needs to be personalized. Due to the very basic functioning of our bodies, we’re not all designed to need the same things, so what works for one person won’t work for another, and at worst, could actually be damaging to your health or prevent the progress that you desire.

Why is this? It comes down to our genes. We’re born with the same set of genes that we will die with. However, our genes do something called ‘expression’, meaning that they can be turned on or off to serve as a healthy, normal function for our body, or they can ignite problems that disrupt our health and lead to disease. 


What causes gene expression? Our diet, lifestyle, and environment, so, how we live out these things essentially determines the fate of our health. 


So if you’ve been slogging it out at the gym but end up feeling worse and drained of your energy, have been eating the latest superfoods but are still finding yourself struggling with digestion and overall you’re no closer to feeling ‘good’ or ‘well’, it’s likely the things you've been spending your time, energy and money on are working against you and aren’t suited to your unique body, based on your genetics. 


A big part of the picture is also that you’re not getting to the root cause of the problems that are arising in your health; not everything can be solved by eating ‘better’ or moving more.

Why I brought Ai/Epigenetic Profiling into my Health Coaching practice to support clients more effectively

Traditional health coaching is about finding what’s right and what works for the individual. As a coach, you use the fundamentals of health to empower your client to uncover what works for them, whilst supporting them through habit change, which is a huge part of moving the needle and seeing results. 


After working with clients for a few years, I found it could take 12 sessions of trial and error to find what was truly right for them. A pivotal part of health coaching, yes, but it’s a slow and costly process and clients can give up or get frustrated, waiting for the thing that’s going to click and get them the results they’re dreaming of. It can be a loss of time, money and results, and that’s disheartening for me as a coach who has a purpose to help others feel good. 


I was searching for something that would work alongside the power of health coaching, getting to the root cause of my client’s struggles faster, with clear direction, and that was backed by science. 


That’s when I discovered Shae. At a health coaching conference, I learned about the power of AI tech in health care, and how it was going to change the landscape of how clients and patients are treated and coached across all areas of health.


After becoming endorsed as a practitioner and using Shae myself, I realized I’d discovered something magical. The Health Coaching process provides motivation, accountability, assistance in removing barriers to change and supports you along the way, helping you take the action required to elevate your health. We set goals, plan for obstacles that will get in the way of you achieving your goals and create a sustainable plan for the future of your health. 



Any big health goal will have a WHY behind it. It’s the driving force that motivates you to take the action you need to improve your health. You may or may not know what it is, but together we’ll identify it, refine it, and then it becomes your key motivator to continue to strive for change. Your mindset is a key part of the habit change process. Exploring awareness, acknowledgment, and accountability of your mindset will play a significant role in cultivating the habits required to elevate your health. 



Stress directly affects your nervous system, and the ongoing impact on your nervous system can lead to a whole host of health conditions, like inflammation, poor mood, brain cognition, gut issues, and hormone imbalances.
